Discovery Club at J.J. Hill Montessori School

I would like to introduce you to the Discovery Club at J.J. Hill Montessori School.

The mission of Discovery Club is to provide high quality before and after school programming in a safe, fun, caring environment where children can pursue a variety of interests, learn lifelong skills, develop friendships, and grow in confidence and respect for themselves and others.

Children participate in a wide variety of academic enrichment, recreational and cultural activities that informally support learning and social development. Additionally, the Discovery Club Staff connect with school-day teachers to better support children's learning, including scheduled homework times.

We offer different components to meet the needs of the families we serve. A child may be enrolled in any combination of components listed below:

Before School: This component begins at 6:30 and lasts until the start of the school day at 9:00. This
is an informal time of self directed and structured activities. Gym games or outside play are also offered each morning. The children may participate in the breakfast program.

After School: This component is from the end of the school day until 6 p.m. This is a time for children to unwind, have a nutritious snack and socialize. In age appropriate groups, children participate in enrichment activities and projects, homework/reading time and exercise in the gym or outside.

Extended Day Pre-kindergarten: The Extended Pre-K Program is for four
year old children that have spent the first part of the day in the
Montessori classroom. The children join Discovery Club for lunch and
stay until the end of the regular school day. During this time they
participate in informal academic enrichment activities designed to
complement the 4 year old program. Recess, music and a short rest time
are
provided during the afternoon session.

School Release Days: On days school is closed for conferences,
teachers meetings, professional days, winter break and spring break,
Discovery Club is open from 6:30 to 6:00 . These days are often used
for field trips and other special activities. Enrollment is always
optional and parents/guardians contract for these days separately.
